According to data from the Australian Government’s Department of Industry, Science, Energy, and Resources, the mining sector (including oil and gas extraction) contributes around 10-11% of Australia's total greenhouse gas emissions annually. Particularly through the extensive use of diesel-powered haul trucks, which transport ore and other materials.
