Introduction

Facing increased environmental scrutiny, the mining industry turns to innovations. The TR100 Retrofit is the solution that Alta developed to assist mining decarbonisation.

The TR100 is a fully electric 100-ton mining truck, retrofitted from a diesel model to meet stringent emissions standards and drive sustainability. This pioneering retrofit exemplifies the shift towards zero-emission machinery by repurposing existing diesel infrastructure, setting new benchmarks in efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Vehicle Specification

The TR100 boasts a net weight of 69 tons, a payload capacity of 91 tons, and can achieve a maximum gross weight of 160 tons, with a top speed of 45 km/h and a maximum slope of 23.5%.

Designed to thrive in extreme conditions, the TR 100 operates efficiently across a temperature range of -25°C to +45°C and withstands high humidity, altitude, and various pollutants like dust and salt fog.

These robust specifications enable the truck to perform optimally in harsh environments, making it an indispensable tool for large-scale operations.

System Principles and Main Components

The TR100 features an advanced fully electric drive system that eliminates the need for diesel, reducing emissions and lowering fuel costs while maintaining robust performance.

To optimise the performance of the electric drive system, Alta Technology employs the following techniques:

MOTORS & GEARBOXES

Featuring two powerful electric motors and robust gearboxes, the TR 100 delivers a total power output of 750 kW and a peak torque of 10,440 Nm, ensuring high performance across all mining terrains.

CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE

The charging system supports fast recharging with a maximum current of 600A and a voltage range of 200-1000V, minimizing downtime and optimizing the truck’s availability for continuous operations.

LFP BATTERY

The TR 100 is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery (LFP), known for its safety and longevity, with a substantial 1000 kWh capacity to support extended mining operations without frequent recharges.

TRACTION & AUXILIARY CONVERTERS

These critical components manage the conversion of stored electrical energy into kinetic energy with high efficiency, enhancing the mining truck's responsiveness and operational stability.
